A few days before my daughter headed back to college for her last semester it hit me. I realized that in a few short months she would suddenly enter the "real" world. The transition from home to college was over, and just like that, my daughter was an adult.

I tried to think of sage advice to offer, but it didn't take long to realize how inadequate my advice really was. What I encountered 30 years ago when I graduated from college was a very different world. My advice is dated, and I need help.

That's why I created The Sisterly Project. With the help and advice from young women in their mid-twenties to mid-thirties, I can help my daughters and others like them with realistic advice on dating, careers, finance, travel, making mistakes, sexual harassment, loneliness, health and nutrition, and other major milestones and challenges young women encounter for the first time.

Share Your Sisterly Advice

If you're here because you'd like to help, I invite you to share your tokens of wisdom, experiences and other words of advice with young women on the verge of venturing into the world. Here's how you can make a difference:

  • Email your thoughts on what it's like to be on your own for the first time.  What did you learn in your twenties that you want to share? Tell me what young women should know about:
      • Careers and Jobs
      • Relationships and Breakups
      • Self Discovery (travel, hobbies, spirituality)
      • Making Mistakes and Recovering from Them
      • Money and Investing
      • First Apartments and Living Arrangements
      • Socia Media
      • Planning for the Future
      • Standing Up for Yourself and Being Heard
      • Safety
      • Making Friends and Overcoming Loneliness
      • Mental Health
      • Health and Taking Care of Yourself
      • Life Changes
      • Sexual Harassment
      • When to Ask for Help
Please include contact information, and name (first name only if you prefer) with your submissions. I may want to follow up with additional questions, or just to say "Thank You!" Your thoughts, advice, and affirmations may be included in my final project, a book to young women on getting through the first few years of adult living.
  • You can also help by sharing this link with your friends or on social media so that others can offer up their own experiences, and lessons learned.

Thank you for visiting The Sisterly Project. If you have any questions or comments, please email me.

Thank you!
